For those of you who don't know what a Drabble is, it's a short story that is usually between 300 and 500 words, unlike my normal 2000-5000 word stories. I wrote something similar to this a while back but not addressing this particular thing.
“Don't look.” She said to me as her hand covered my eyes and pushed me down to the floor.
Silence… Silence, Silence… Shots
The sounds of the firing squad and a body hitting the floor. The stain of red against the wooden wall, running down it slowly. Drip, drip, drip. The smell of burnt wood and rotting corpses. The taste of sulfur in the air.
“Don't look Leto” but I did. Through the cracks in her fingers I looked
... and I wish I hadn't.
An accented soldier orders us out and binds our hands. Our hair cut, our bodies wash with scalding water, given nothing but rags. “You serve Danarius now. Get to work.” And pushed us into the fields.
18 years of slavery. And my childhood fell through the cracks along with everything else.
“Where is Leto going mama?” I remember my sister asking as I was escorted to the Magisters main compound. After stopping once I didn't look back, I simply kept walking, muttering a prayer under my breath.
Leto. My name was Leto.
The details have slipped my mind like a runaway under the cover of night. I am no longer Leto, I haven't been for years. Now I am Fenris. Danarius’ prized pet, his little wolf.
I'm falling, falling into the darkness, falling between the cracks, into nothing. Sounds and pictures run through my subconscious mind, the firing squad, my sister and mother, my escape attempt, that day with the Templars, Danarius, the ritual. The god damned ritual!
My name was Leto
I wake with a shivering but silent start, Hawke is still sound asleep next to me, snoring slightly. I gasp for breath in attempt to regain my control but can't. I slip on my shirt quickly and go downstairs to get my shoes, closing the bedroom door behind me. Memories pound through my head, making it hard to stay here. I slide on my shoes and open the front door, take another unsteady breath, and walk out into the night. The memory still fresh in my mind…

I just love Fenris a lot okay, he deserved so much better but his backstory is so interesting and aaaa
Fenris needs a hug!
ReplyDeleteHe needs all of the hugs! Though just ask his permission, if you went up to him and randomly hugged him he'd probably tense up and be very uncomfortable. Unless your Hawke, Garret can hug him anytime.
