Flash Fiction February Day 9 Anonymity (Lucien)

 Day 9 Anonymity:

A major difference between the Dark Brotherhood and the Morag Tong is the concept of anonymity. While yes both organizations operate in the shadows to varying degrees, the identities of the Dark Brotherhood are kept hidden far more than those of the Morag Tong. During one of my first visits to Morrowind that I tagged along with Issy for when she went to visit Valan it was peculiar to me that when walking around Sadrith Mora or Balmora you could find a building simply labeled ‘Morag Tong’ and walk right inside. The actual headquarters of The Morag Tong that operates out of the sewers of Vivec City is a little more concealed, people know it exists, and it could possibly be in the sewers, but not its exact location. The average dunmer when asked also seemed to know that Eno Hlaalu is the head of the organization, unlike the Black Hand who even members of the dark brotherhood do not always know their identities. During that trip to Morrowind I met Eno himself for the first time, and I consider it a great honor that I am one of the very few members of the Dark Brotherhood that he tolerates. Due to a long running tension the two groups historically have not agreed on multiple things, and as a result members of the opposing groups do not often get along, making our agreement of friendship as individuals all the more special. I remember he was rather confused about me, as I am a member of the shadowy Dark Brotherhood, yet also known around Cyrodiil, at least to some people…unfortunately those people include the city guards in some places. It is a bit of a juxtaposition, but I suppose you can only remain a certain degree of anonymity when being a primary recruiter for the group of assassins most of whom are at the very least a little asocial…In the end though, I enjoy my job, even if I am occasionally put in the spotlight of the Imperial Guard.
