Dance of the veils (Fenris)

“What are they doing?” Garret and Cullen ask me as the veiled dancers go about their routine twirling about in the square. I had expected they wouldn't know, “It's an ancient tevene custom, carried on by the elvish community. It is the dance of veils. There's Alarian,” I point to the smallest one, the little blonde elf in the grey and dark green robes holding the scarves which they make intricate motions out of. “Interesting. Wow, that's actually pretty cool.” Cullen says as some of the dances do cart wheels or aerials, land lightly and continue spinning rhythmically in a circle along with the music. The two look at each other with awed expressions, Garret goes to say something and I shush him “stop it, you're being distracting.” I sit between them, naturally Garret interprets him distracting me as a good thing “I quite like distracting you then, love.” He smirks, I roll my eyes “You can be utterly the most annoying person on the planet at times I swear. Please just be quiet.” He laughs “fine. Where'd Templar guy go?” I look around, huh he's not here “must have left I guess.” Garret shrugs. The veiled dancers wave their scarves about as they twirl and glide on light feet, they split into three different groups, going in smaller circles until dividing up individually, they have vibrant metallic silks with intricate etching and needlework, they range from diamond designs, to flowers, and Ali’s feature dragons etched in gold and silver thread. On the scarves they hold is the golden leaf, the symbol of house Surana. They have a similar pendent that clasps their cloak they usually wear. Eventually the dancers go back to their large group and finish with an amazingly choreographed ending. The gong sounds one last time as they come to a stop, the veils and scarves twist and fly one last time before covering each one as if they disappear. People clap loudly and cheer, some throw flowers even. Alarian comes over to us after breathing heavily “you okay?” Hawke asks. “Yeah, that's tiring I have to say, but it was fun.” He nods “that was pretty cool too. But looked exhausting, I get why it's only done on very special occasions.” Tonight is one of the elven holidays. We have special food and ceremonies and celebrations are held, like this one. Temple is open for any who do not have family or friends to celebrate with. Yes the food is good and the celebrations are nice, but my favorite part is the ancient and mysterious part, the dance of veils. I guess you could say that it is “shrouded in mystery. Under a veil of mystery perhaps?” I laugh to myself as we walk back to the Hawke household.
