Preparations and papers (Phillip)

“I should be grading paper.” I say to myself as I lace up my skates, eh I’ll do it later. Flicking a lock of hair out of my eyes I walk towards the rink, Everan stands off to the side and watches me skate, doing jumps and spins as gracefully as I can, but doing a rather shaky step sequence, I’ll need to practice that before the ice show. Isabelle comes and stands next to Ev, also watching. I had forgotten she was going to skate as well, as shes more of a dancer than a skater. Suddenly I slip and fall forwards, guess I wasn’t concentrating hard enough. Everan looks at me with a concerned expression and I wave a dismissive hand to signal I'm fine. Hours pass until I start to get tired, which is saying something, I might be small in stature, at least compared to other Altmer, but I’ve got quite a bit of stamina, which is useful for skating, and grading papers late at night, and other things. Stepping off the rink I turn it over to Issy, go get changed and come back to watch for a few minutes. It’s easy to tell Isabelle is a ballerina, just from the way she skates, must be hard on your feet, dancing for hours then going to skate. Now to actually go grade those papers.

Everan and I get dinner quickly before parting ways for the night. By the time I get home Ainsley is already asleep, Ama is finishing dinner by herself and Mom is working night shift. “Mum I’m going to go grade papers if you need me.” I tell her as I poke my head into the kitchen and she gives a thumbs up. Whence upstairs I look at the rather massive pile of papers on my study desk, I have no idea how I’ll get through all these tonight, luckily they aren’t due back until next thursday, giving me a while to grade. To further delay things I get a text from Mark then, with some details for the ice show.

A semi competitive show where audience members favorite skater gets to do a solo, if its a pair they do a solo too.

There's a meeting for all the skaters this Tuesday at 3:00 PM, do you think you can make it?

I glance at my calendar, Tuesday is TOMORROW?!?! I thought it was Saturday or something, time flies when you're having fun I guess?

Hey Mark, I'm pretty sure I can make it but I might be a few minutes late if that's alright.

Mark texts back a thumbs up and says it's perfectly fine. Now back to those papers.


THE NEXT DAY

“Phillippppppppppppp wakkeeeee upppppppppppppppppp!!!!!” Ainsley jumps on my bed and yells at the top of her lungs, I take the pillow and hide my head under it “Five more minuites.” I mumble, I was up really late last night and didn't sleep very well, having a three year old very loudly wake me up is not the nicest thing to experience after that. “Everans downstairs.” I quickly take my head out from under the pillow and look at my sister, who has a somewhat wicked grin on her face. “He's in the kitchen, he's waiting for you. That's why I woke you up.” Ainsley explains jumping so she falls onto the bed and bounces off from the impact. After hurriedly throwing on clothes and rushing downstairs I find that Ev is indeed downstairs drinking Coffee at our kitchen table. Tiptoeing until I'm right behind him I give him a quick kiss on the head and pat it softly “Goodmorning.” I go rummage through the cabinets for something decent to eat and settle on a piece of toast and some leftover bacon and eggs I found in the fridge. “What're you gonna do today?” Everans asks taking a sip of his coffee. “Well at three I need to meet Mark and company at the rink, were having a prep meeting for the ice show, other than that, not much. What about you?” He shrugs “Lani and I have an assignment, nothing too interesting, just messing with some reports and stuff.” He rolls his eyes “So paperwork?” I ask, messing with reports is rather vague. “Precisely, its lots of paperwork.” The two of us chat for a bit before I have to go drop Ainsley off at preschool, in which Everan comes along before heading off to do his own thing. It's around quarter to one by now, I'll go see what Daniels up to.

Daniel Lewin-Chase, a personal friend and student of mine. Rather quiet guy, a bit eccentric, but he's an enchanter, we’re all a bit odd. I walk through the library as softly as I can as not to disturb anyone. “Daniel?” I call glancing down corridors until I find him sitting in a corner with books piled up around him. He looks up and closes the book “Hello Professor. What are you doing here?” He looks tired, and if he's been reading for quite a while. “Wanna go on a walk with me?” I ask and he immediately hops up, almost tripping on a stack of books. The two of us put them back in their original places then leave the stone building. “I have a meeting at three but you looked quite bored and I was wondering if you'd like to go grab lunch.” I explain as we walk. The two of us eat at a little cafe down the street and I explain an assignment again, as he had been absent during the lesson. Daniel informs me he needs to get going as he has a class to attend. “Have fun!” I say with faux enthusiasm as neither of us enjoy mathematics and I get a groan in return. Maybe I won't be late after all.

I enter the rink and wait for the other skaters. Landon shows up first, then a women who I've never met who I assume to be Marcie, then Isabelle and Mark show up around the same time. Yuuto is last and comes running in, skidding to a stop on the carpet and almost bumping into Landon, who stiffens and seems visibly uncomfortable. “Can we just get this meeting over with?” I lead them into a conference room with a large table. Mark sits with his computer and goes over everyone's costumes, which are in the process of being made by Lanriael, Isabelle, Sarah and Carmen, and Lee. Next we go over songs.


Yuuto is doing Intermenzzo and Copycat
Landon is doing Wildfire and a nightcored rock version of pumped up kicks,
Mark is also doing Aragonaise and Helena beat,
Issy is doing Meltdown and Knife,
Marcie is doing take a hint and part of me,
And I am doing paired winter winds and electric angel. Landon and I will also being doing two pair skates together, one of Tsundere, and another of World's End Dancehall.

We then go over more preparations over lunch. Things are finally starting to come together, I'm excited!
