Due to my very poor use of acrylic paint I decided to try to paint a whit pumpkin. The lines are a bit off but overall it was successful. In Drawing and Painting acrylics make a bit more sense now. We have to paint an image with one point perspective and because I couldn't think of anything I'm doing the dragon symbol from Skyrim. Then in English when we have our semi weekly vocabulary quizzes for the sentences I just write a sentence while picturing whatever character comes to mind...most of the time it's Valan. Like the word Rogue, Valan is a lovable rogue. He can be a bit clumsy, and kind of an idiot, and even a bit of a jerk at times but Sammie and Yuuri and the others love him anyways.
Also good news!! I'm not failing math OR science so far this year! And my teacher of the deaf is talking to Dr Cohen and Dr Hartnick about a different kind of hearing aid that would suit me better as my left ear is worse and my current ones are being very annoying. Bad news is on the 25th Dr Shea and I are meeting with my parents and doing what needs to be done (in summery: hey your kids trans* it's time to deal with it.) so I'm stressing about that, and I'm currently sick with a virus so that's lovely.
This got very off topic per usual. Anyways...
Until next time,
Max
Having characters which provoke strong pictures is wonderful and will help you remember the words.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on maths and science!
Tell more about this different kind of hearing aid.
Yes, your kid is trans*.
Hope the virus is going through you and around you now.
And what a white pumpkin.
What is interesting in Painting and Drawing?
I had just bought some long mural posters - one is about jazz in New York and the other is about the sea. Tomislav Tomic made the New York Jazz poster and Nicki Palin the under the sea one.
And of course Sammi and Yuuri love Valan!
Yes it is wonderful and very helpful, I'm not sure if I'd remember the words without them!
DeleteWhy thank you!
It is called a CROS and routes the sound from the worse ear to the better via a set of two hearing aids.
I wrote them a five page paper/letter explaining everything (with diagrams!)
I feel a bit better today which is good.
The pumpkin was originally a different shade of white but I used white paint to brighten it.
Well Mr. Reddy the instructor draws something different everyday on the whiteboard. He was one of my teachers at the Museum of Fine Arts during the summer. Then we do lots of fun projects too.
Oh that's very interesting, I hope you enjoy them.
They have to, even if he annoys them at times they always end up coming back.
Max:
ReplyDeleteBy now you are having the meeting about being trans*?
I hope this is anticipatory anxiety and not an existential threat/risk.
And I also hope the five-page letter/note/communique is helping you work out your thoughts, feelings, actions and where to go from here.
And, yes, brightening pumpkins. I know some people do it with glow-in-the-dark paint - maybe something to try for 2018 or the next pumpkin holiday?
[Yours truly dealt with a pumpkin in early May that I had bought from the north-west to my home].
What did Reddy draw today?
Valan and the others: ah - that's friendship or when you're drawn to someone.
I mean to ask more about CROS. I was able to work out that it transferred from ear to ear. I also found a whole lot of sites like alldeaf which is a message board. They have 10 years worth of information about this device and user experiences/interface.
I am also spending a lot of time at your National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine because this is the week/day they have free papers. I downloaded some about ethics in research; energy and another topic.
And Jordan from Born Just Right is doing a TEDxYouthBlueSlide talk in Pittsburgh!
Also Rod J. Quinn - had a chance / opportunity to talk with him about being positive and how you can be so.
Have actually done some work on the posters. Statue of Liberty was great. Still doing sunsets and colouring in the birds. They're more lairy than usual New York City birds.
Today was the meeting and it was very very stressful. My parents said they will "try to call me M" but will never use the right pronouns EVER. They are meeting with Dr Shea next week to talk more individually without me there.
DeleteThe anxiety was a bit of both to be honest with you.
It did help with explaining everything as it was clear and organized, and colour coded!
Oh wow maybe for next Halloween!
Ooo how did you deal with said pumpkin if I may ask?
I'm not sure I had to miss his class today :( will check back tomorrow. He's in the process of giving his whiteboard creature "The Turkey-Dragon" a costume. He's being drawn as TurkeyDragon the firefighter because why not.
They have a good friendship.
What about the CROS?
Oh interesting I don't look much on there, I'll have to do that.
Is it on YouTube by any chance?
I've never heard of him. Who is he?
I hope you continue to have fun doing them!
Most TEDx talks are on YouTube as soon as they are done. Especially the Youth ones.
DeleteThat was good that your parents will try to call you M. But they won't use your right pronouns. And we will leave this with Dr Shea - will she talk to them both or more to one?
Always good to be honest when it comes to anxiety. And there are probably anxieties we've not pressed yet.
Yay for colour codes and organisation. Can I ask what blue; green; orange; red and yellow were for? Lots of students use three or five colours to talk about things/topics.
I made the pumpkin into soup and roasts and gave some to relatives and neighbours and friends. It would probably have been very rotten by the time of Halloween.
Oh the Turkey-Dragon! I wonder if you students occasionally vote on costumes? And why not indeed.
Ah!
I will explain Rob J. Quinn - he is a Philadelphian sports writer. He wrote a book called THE BIRTH OF SUPER CRIP which is about Red O'Malley who is in his junior year of high school. And many years ago he studied art / graphic design / visual communication. He also wrote a set of essays called I'M NOT HERE TO INSPIRE YOU which is very much a kick-arse-and-take-names book.
How did Red become SuperCrip?

Jordan Reeves' last TEDxCoMo talk
Okay that's good to know.
DeleteUpdate: it's gone back to constant deadnaming :(
She with talk to them both more alone and I'm seeing her alone on Friday along with an adolescent med Doctor Katie Brigham.
True, it's better than suppressing it all.
They were more just to plan everything out.
Oooo that sounds delicious!
Sometimes we vote. The turkey dragon is great hehehe :)
Thank you for explaining!
Deadnaming: oh no. A person's name is powerful and important - people even call it a powerword. I hope you get truenamed more and more often.
DeleteAdolescent med: how was Brigham? And I hope the alone talks went well.
Still enjoying the Dragon two weeks later. By now he must have drawn some awesome stuff leading up to Thanksgiving.
What are you thankful for in 2017, Max? What are your friends thankful for?
And it was delicious. Now there is carrot juice in the offering. 5 kilograms of carrot and you can make good stuff.
I get true named by almost everyone else, just when I get home it goes back to deadname :(
DeleteShe was very nice and did a genetic test for something called Turner syndrome. She called me my correct name and pronouns wether or not my mom had objections, which was good. Yes the alone talks went well at least mine did. My mom went to see her alone as Winston and my dad were away that week, Dr Shea said that meeting was awful.
I only saw Mr Reddy once last week and by that day he was too tired to draw anything on the board.
Hmm, good friends and teachers, art supplies, the fact a lot of people accept me, and that I'm not dead yet. I'll have to ask them and get back to you.
That's great! Ooooo sounds good.
