Feline Fiasco (Valan)

Sadrith Mora: 4E 201

Having traveled back to Sadrith Mora for a few days I wander the city, old memories resurface as I explore each crevice and narrow side street. The city itself is not very well guarded, partly due to the fact it's on a small island just off the coast of the larger island of Vvardenfell, and partly as its House Telvanni territory and the Telvanni could care less. Yuuri is supposed to meet me by the docks at quarter of five but it's only half past three now, so I might as well keep wandering. I wonder if that really good bakery is still there?

After stopping go get something to eat I turn into an alleyway to find a cat staring at me, with hazed red eyes and a matted brown, almost black, coat of fur in desperate need of a bath. Slowly I walk towards it and it doesn't move much except back into a corner. I hold out my hand to pet the stray but it swipes at me, leaving a small series of cuts on my left hand. “Ow! Bad kitty!” The cat meows in response and I notice a small silver tag hanging from its collar, it seems the cat and I have the same name. Within a few minutes of softly talking to the cat he seems to calm down and allows me to pet him. I pick up the cat and go to take him with me. Now just to find a vet and get him all cleaned up. I'll find Yuuri later.

“Excuse me?” I ask walking up to the veterinarians reception desk, “I found a stray cat. Would one of the vets be able to check him out and update his vaccines?” I blonde imperial woman looks up from her paperwork, and I hold up the cat for her to see. Valan cat seems to have calmed down a bit by now which is good, it was a rough time getting him here. “Of course, take this slip and one of the nurses will call you in shortly.” She hands me a slip and I start to go to my seat but she calls after me. Umm..can I have a name please? For the nurses to call.” I turn around and go back to the desk. “Valan Velothi, that's my name.” I hold up the cat “And this is Valan cat.” I show her the little name tag. “You named your cat after yourself?” The woman asks and I shake my head “I found him like that, strange isn't it?” She nods and makes a note it's a stray before sending me back to my seat. In the meantime I text Yuuri to find his whereabouts.

Where are you? We have a change of plans, I found a stray cat with my name on it. I'm at the vet off the Main Street near the inn, you'll see it. As you go towards the inn it's the first street before it on the right.

…fine. I'll be there in an hour, bit of trouble with the ash.

Heh rip you, good luck with that.

I chuckle to myself, Yuuri is easily annoyed when he's had a bad day and I sometimes get on his nerves, but in the end we’re still good friends. A nurse calls my name and walks with me back into the clinic. I'm lead into a room and put Valan cat on a table. The nurse asks some questions, most of which I don't know the answer to and leaves, allowing the doctor to come in. “Hello Mr. Velothi.” She greets me and shakes my hand. “And hello Valan cat.” She pets him softly with a smile. “I hear there's an interesting story on his name, eh? I've had a few other doctors have patients with similar stories come in lately.” I turn my head in curiosity “oh really? Who?” The vet taps a pen to her chin “One in Skyrim, one in Cyrodil, two in Summerset Isle so far. Same things with dogs as well, there's been both Dog and Cat variants. Maybe you'll find a cat next.” I smile a little, I can think of who might have founds said furry felines in Skyrim and Cyrodil. Summerset makes it a bit more of a challenge as there's five of them, and as for the Daggerfall duo, perhaps they haven't found their yet. The vet conducts an examination and gives Valan cat his shots but declares him all healthy, just a bit hungry and will need to adjust to house life. The receptionist gives hands me the bill and advises I wait inside if I'm to be walking anywhere, as it has started pouring. I hope Yuuri isn't stuck in the rain. And at that though walks in a soaking wet, scowling, and unamused Yuuri Seki. “Well you look happy.” I say flicking a lock of hair out of his face. He mutters something and goes to take of his jacket but I stop him and inform him everything's all done, we can go home now. “You wanna go straight home or get dinner first?” I ask him, he thinks for a moment “We should probably drop the cat at home then get something to eat. You wouldn't happen to have an umbrella or anything would you?” I shake my head but the receptionist throws one towards us and says its complementary, they have lots more in the back so we can keep it. We thank the lady and bid her good evening before heading out into the rain. I hold the umbrella and Yuuri holds the cat as we walk through the rain humming a song as we go, “Karakasa-San ga tooru” or “Here comes Mr Umbrella”.

Finally we get to my apartment here and drop Valan cat inside, feed him, and make him a makeshift bed, he goes right to sleep. Long day I guess. Yuuri changes clothes quickly so he's no longer soaking wet and we head off to get dinner. Over dinner I explain the situation, why we’re here in the first place, which is to clear up some business between house Redoran and house Telvanni, and how some of our friends definitely have found cats of their own. Yuuri informs me he always knew about Yuuri cat, he just did not see the importance and that Sammie cat lives in the royal palace in Mournhold. I wonder if any of our friends in minecraft are experiencing this feline fiasco?
