A/N: A very short one for today, happy Valentines Day!
Flash Fiction February 2025 Day 14 Prompt: Leash
Dog sitting while Valan is away for his seeing-eye dog, Bella, has proved harder than I initially thought such a job would be. I had intended on taking the dog for a walk earlier this morning but had run into more than one problem. First of course there was breakfast that needed to be eaten followed by a quick trip outside then when almost all ready for our morning walk a thunderstorm began, which she always hates, and the resulting refusal to go out whenever it rains no matter what I try. By now it is mid morning and the rain seems to have stopped with the sun attempting to peek out from behind the grey clouds. I call for Bella who comes running at her name and drops a squeaky toy at my feet. Telling her it’s time for a W-A-L-K prompts a happy barking noise. Quickly everything needed is gathered aside from a few necessities by the door. Grabbing keys, a ball in case we stop by the park, and an extra bag or two we are ready to go except, wait a second, where’s the leash? It seems as if this walk is getting less and less likely to actually happen by the minute. With a grumble I go to search for the leash, muttering to myself that it’s Valan who should be kept on a shorter leash, really, so things like this don’t end up happening. Coat hooks and other means of organization exist for a reason, he should use them.
