“Where on earth could they be?! We’ve searched almost every place in the city Yuuri would have run to and Valan would have chased him the entire time. You know he’s too stubborn to give up even on something stupid like that.” Sammie kicks a discarded box in frustration. We stand outside and scan the area once more about to give up hope until Lucien starts poking me incessantly “What if they're not in the city?” He points to the large hill above the city where the Seki compound is. Sammie sighs “By the tribunal you're right Lucien why didn't I think that!” She leads us through the winding turns of Blacklight until we reach the gates. “See, I told you I can be useful.” Lucien elbows me as we walk. “I never said you weren't. That was Mathieu.” He scoffs something under his breath at the name. A few of the lights in the house are still on for some reason, how peculiar. Sammie unlocks the door that leads directly into Yuuri’s room and the three of us file in. For such a large house and rich family his room is surprisingly small in comparison to other rooms and simply yet elegantly furnished. Valan lays asleep on the carpet with a blanket covering most of his small form while Yuuri is still nowhere to be found. The door to the room is open partially and the materials on Yuuri’s desk are scattered in a haphazard way as if they were dropped abruptly. Knowing him that's not something he would do, as he always takes very careful care of any writing or drawing materials he uses. Previously not knowing why I had asked Anna one day who explained certain tools like the ones she uses and some of Yuuri’s can be extremely expensive and hard to replace. “Any idea where he went?” Sam thinks for a moment. “Did you see if the lights on the left side of the house were on?” She asks Lucien who nods. “Okay. I think I might know where he is. Come on. Just possibly be prepared for a rough conversation.” Silently we follow until we reach the left wing of the house. “I hear voices.” Lucien remarks as we walk through the house “That might just be because you're a ghost, Lucien.” Sammie interjects saying it's likely just Yuuri and Takayama or Yuuri's parents, Iri and Shiro causing Lucien to give me a glare. We reach the light source “Just as I thought. They usually have conversations late at night if neither can sleep. Not unlike the twins, just different circumstances.” Sammie knocks on the door “Takayama-San? It's Sam, Issy, and Lucien. May we come in?” She asks through the wood and a voice replies “Hai! Come in!” Sam shoves open the door to reveal Yuuri and Takayama sitting on the floor with a pile of old writing and pictures between them. “Did we interrupt something?” I ask cautiously not wanting to offend. “No, just looking through some old things.” Takayama says with a sad smile. Sam goes and sits between them and we sit opposite her all looking at the old files. “Talking about your kids?” Takayama nods and Sam gives him a pat on the back in an attempt to comfort him. “How’d Ben die anyways? I know how Gabe and Suki died but not him.” Yuuri picks up a faded picture of a Dunmer boy no older than 19 or 20 with brown hair, unusual as Dunmer typically have black hair. Yuuri, almost as if he had read my thoughts looks at me expressionless “It's likely that both Ben and Gabe had a stand of albinism, as both had skin and hair as well as eyes that were usually lighter than most Dunmer. Mainly Gabe who had a very light red colour eyes and blonde hair, as well as a light grey skin colour. Ben not so much but they was still aspects of it. Suki looked pretty ‘normal’ in comparison.” He shows me a picture of the three kids and Takayama finally answers the question then looking at a picture of Ben “I can still remember the day he died, i still do in my nightmares. He was in an accident not unlike yours Yuuri except his was worse. He was walking across the street and was hit. It was midsummer, that's how I always remember it. It was midsummer and had rained the night before causing a thick fog. The guard came to the house to tell me and brought me down to the site where he’d been killed. By the gods it was terrible. The days after that were a haze, it felt like I was walking in a dream my mind didn't want to accept it. The realization I had one living child left. If only I had known I’d lose her too.” He begins to cry and buries his face in his hands. I wonder if this was what my father felt like when my siblings died, or what Vicente felt when Lucien was murdered. Yuuri and Sammie attempt to comfort him while Lucien stands off to the side awkwardly. I look out onto the city and the sea beyond. It’s a warm foggy night and was the same earlier today. “What brought up the conversation in the first place?” I ask out of dark curiosity. “The weather.” Yuuri says simply before attempting to comfort his uncle. “Kagerou Days.” Takayama says between sobs;
“...I’ll never forget it.”
Here's the Hetalia version of the song (Prussia and England's versions) which I happen to like better than the original.
