Chicago Trip

We recently flew out to Chicago Illinois to bring my brother to college and stayed a few days in the city. Overall it was nice, oddly there was a large amount of spiders throughout the city and it was brutally hot and humid though the trip itself was nice. We walked around Watertower place, helped my brother move into his dorm (which required many trips to target and was a three day process) and had high tea at the Drake hotel, it was very enjoyable.

Due to my blogger on my phone being finicky I will add photos at a later date of our trip.
Now including pictures!!

When we last visited Chicago (Which was around a decade or so ago!) We went to the Ritz for breakfast. Since 2007 they've remodeled the place to make it more modern but also more accessible, whether the remodeling and updating is good or bad that is up to you. The quality of the pancakes (I also got chocolate chips on the side as I forgot and frankly did not know if they still made chocolate-chip pancakes...they do.) is still the same, delicious.

On the day that we drove up to bring Winston to Uni we stopped and got lunch in the city before we left. The common theme of what I ate those few days was mostly tomato soup and warm soft pretzels, I did not feel very well and that was what I best kept down...And soft pretzels are a good alternative to regular bread with or without soup in my opinion at least.

On the day before we went back home we stayed at the drake another night. That night had no charge as they forgot to pack my luggage (which was only a small suitcase) and we only realized by the time we got to the other hotel and had to drive back at midnight to get it! The night we stayed for free that afternoon my mom and I went and had tea in their special tea room. It was surprisingly inexpensive.

There was even fancy hot chocolate.

The flower arrangement (Though made of fake flowers) and the fountain was the centre-piece of the tea room and the day we went featured a live harpist playing (see background of image to the left side)

The food in the little platter though for the most part simple was excellent and I even tried a few new foods (Which is hard when you have no sense of taste or smell and thus have to relay on texture and looks as well as having sensory issues related to ASD and SPD)

My favorite foods were the scones and the miniature chicken salad sandwiches. The tea was very good too. Overall the tea room was a pleasant experience.

Until next time,
Max
