A/N: somebody remind me to write about Xavier and Juliette more often, I think about them frequently but they do get rather neglected in works that make it out into the world.
Prompt: I warn you, if you bore me, I shall take my revenge
Storytelling is a skill that takes refining through practice. Juliette and I had met for coffee at a small cafe to exchange unfinished manuscripts of our latest works. Hers seems to be a collection of shorter stories and reimagined compiled into one finite document, mine on the other hand is a recount of recent events. I flip through the papers in between sips of coffee to try and figure out which short story I’ll begin with to provide feedback on. Juliette meanwhile stares at the title and chapter outline of my work blankly. “Something wrong?” I ask given her blank, unchanging expression. She looks up at me, having snapped out of her trance, and puts the pile of papers on the table next to her cup and plate that contains a half eaten pastry. “For all your works I never took you for a history writer, Xavier.” she tells me bluntly before taking a moment and pouring some milk into her cup. “I thought I’d try something new, there’s been no shortage of historical events these past few decades.” she laughs wryly in agreement at that. Both of us have had our parts in some of the events, between my rescue of the emperor from Oblivion and her own rather traumatic adventures that eventually led to the Warp in The West and the formation of the unified High Rock we live in now. After taking a sip of her now diluted and quickly getting cold coffee Juliette puts on a serious expression and leans in with an arm on the table, the other hand holding up the pile of papers. “I’ll read it because you’re my friend, but I warn you, if you bore me, I shall take my revenge.” she says quietly before dropping the stack of papers in the center of the table. Given her many other skills, some of which are more deadly than others, I certainly hope I don’t bore her.
