Flash Fiction February 2025 Day Twenty-Two: Burn (Anna)

A/N: She has a few particular people in mind that she would like to direct a fire ball at...possibly more than a few, actually.

Flash Fiction February 2025 Day 22 Prompt: Burn

Of the various schools of magic; Alteration, Illusion, Destruction, Restoration, and Conjuration there are some basic spells that are particularly useful even if one chooses to specialize in another school for much of their study. Candlelight, for example, a useful little spell from the Alteration school that causes a small floating ball of light that follows the caster making the use of torches obsolete. Healing Hands is another that is especially helpful if one is in the company of rather accident prone companions with little to no inherent magical talent. Quicker than washing and bandaging a wound and less likely to leave permanent scarring making it as if the injury never happened. While all schools are quite useful in some form or another I have always been drawn to study of those within the school of Destruction for their practical everyday uses such as lighting a candle with a simple flames spell for added light and warmth to the power that comes with harnessing the elements to channel them into a chain of lightning or spike of ice to be directed at an opponent. A ball of fire is all that is needed to cause a great calamity, stop an enemy force in their tracks, or burn a fortress to the ground. The Nords and Imperials may like their swords and shields, The Redguards their battleships, and the Bosmer their intricately carved bows and arrows. However, any Breton, Altmer, or Dunmer with even the most basic of magical training knows that they will all burn in the end. A wooden shield and steel sword are no match against a blazing inferno.
