They're not very good.
In summery:
I tested positive for mosaic Turner syndrome so I only have one X chromosome and some Y material in some of my cells. Dr Brigham said its not a significant enough amount to diagnose formally but we will treat it the symptoms. I also tested positive for Hyperandrogenism as my Testorsterone and Androgen levels are above the 50th percentile. Both Turner syndrome and Hyperandrogenism are defined as "abnormal" intersex conditions, as they do not effect genetalia as much as they effect hormones and internal workings.
The more interesting and significant find came from an ultrasound. The other day I had a pelvic ultrasound that looked at my kidneys, bladder, and reproductive organs. We did not go over the results in depth but I'm seeing Dr Brigham on Friday. There's a small 1cm X 1cm mass in or around my left kidney in particular. It seems to be a cyst of some sort...I hope it's just that.
I have two appointments next week, one on Wednesday and one on Friday. Neurology is Wednesday and Adolesent med. is Friday.
Until next time,
Max
Wow, Max.
ReplyDeleteMosaic Turner - Brigham is right about the "symptomatic".
And you are hyperandrogenic. That is a lot of genitalia.
Hormones and inner workings - so you are part of the Quiltbag in another way.
Best wishes for Friday.
There is often more to cysts than cyst...
Good luck with those kidneys; bladder; reproductive organs.
Yes, and at least we know now.
DeleteHyperandrogenism actually doesn't affect genetalia in any major ways, complete androgen insufficiency syndrome (I believe that's what it calls) does, as it makes a person have two sets of genetalia, one male and one female. Hyperandrogenism on the other hand only affects hormones which then effect different systems such as hair and muscle production.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "the quiltbag"
Thank you Adelaide.
Yes there is, sadly.
Thank you.
Quiltbag - lesbian; gay; bisexual; transgender; queer; intersex; asexual. People, when they want to put it in one understandable English word, call it the Quiltbag because it's raggy and colourful and stitched.
DeleteThank you for the reminder about hyperandrogenism.
I've read about Complete Androgen Insufficency.
"Hyperandrogenism on the other hand only affects hormones which then effect different systems such as hair and muscle production."
Yay! You used "affect" and "effect" correctly in one sentence!
Quiltbag = intersex as well as being queer and trans and agendered.
Interesting, I've never heard the term prior to your use!
DeleteYou're welcome.
Steve, Enders OC has it I believe, or something similar.
Hyperandrogenism and PCOS, which I also have, often go hand in hand as well.
Yay!
