Day 15 Desert:
The sands of Hammerfell are quite the change from the rolling hills and mountains of High Rock and Cyrodiil, and even more so compared to the tundra and snowy landscapes of Skyrim…I wonder why Baurus left in the first place sometimes, today being one of those days, as the two of us sit bundled up by the fire inside Cloud Ruler Temple. “Do you miss Hammerfell, Baurus?” In reply, he shrugs and pulls the blankets closer. “Sometimes I miss the warmer weather, but the sand itself is a different story.” he pauses, thinking of his next words before continuing “If you’ve never been to Hammerfell, well…places in Hammerfell that are not Sentenial or Stros M’Kai, then you probably have never experienced a sandstorm. To give you a mental image because you have been to Morrowind I know that it is similar to an ash storm, just less likely to carry disease but potentially in some cases more dangerous.” That is an excellent mental image, I can imagine it clearly. Baurus sighs having finished his explanation “Aside from the sands I do miss the cities, and weather where you can go outside without needing twenty separate layers only to still be cold.” Bruma does get quite cold due to its proximity to Skyrim, one might even go as far as to call it a tiny bit of Nordic culture in Cyrodiil, with the climate to match. Over time as our conversation continues I learn that Baurus has adapted to the weather here over the years, after all he has been at Cloud Ruler Temple for the past decade or so having been trained here. After a bit of silence Baurus then murmurs a question “I wonder what the Khajiit would think of when comparing the sands of Elsweyr to the deserts of Hammerfell…” he wonders, an interesting question, indeed.
