I'm not getting anything... :(

I had my ABR today and the results showed "mild-normal" enough hearing so I am not getting hearing aids/anything else and I am super mad and sad and upset. They should have given me hearing aids when they first found out. I don't believe the test though because I know that there is a hearing loss and all of the other tests and ABR's show that. I  am going to see audiology at Mass eye and ear again and hopefully they will give me the things I need because for now I have no AT that will help me at all because Dr. Wheten won't even approve I-Sense or anything else!
After my test and after we left I imedityly  burst into tears so we went back and told her but she didn't do anything! I was really hoping I would get hearing aids today because I can hardly hear most conversations and other things but Dr.Wheten thinks there is no hearing loss! I am really upset and feel like I want to curl up in a corner and cry. :(

Until next time,
Meredith

  1. That's really really awful, Meredith. So sorry you didn't get them and that you're so upset. If they can't find any hearing loss, I wonder if it could be a mild sensory processing issue (terrible amateur diagnosis from someone who doesn't know what she's talking about). I really hope you get what you need.

    1. They had seen a bilateral permenant hearing loss on all the other tests and the other ABR. Sometimes a test can be inaccurate one day though. I already have sensory processing disorder and that is different. SPD is when you are over sensitive or undersenitive to certain stimuli. There is definitely a hearing loss I know there is because I can hardly hear most people and sounds ( I can't hear the birds chirping in the morning for example) I hope I get what I need to. I hope Dr.Hartnick and the MEEI audiology/ENT team can figure it out.

  2. How were Dr. Wheten's tests conducted? Did s/he listen to your complaints? You need those hearing aids.

    1. She just set the thing up and went into the other room and put the sounds through the leads and the computer wrote it down and she looked at it after words. She didn't listen to me and only said again "the computer says your hearing is normal so it normal. I'm not going to do anything." Ms Boyle and my parents and I and my guidence counsler and Dr.Hartnick have other ideas. ;) they are going to fight to get me what I need. My mom called Dr.Hartnick today and told him what happened he was really mad that she said that and wasn't going to do anything and he asked to speak with me and I got on the phone and he said "Meredith, don't give up. We will figure this out and find things to help you. I promise." And that made me happier knowing I will have help. I do need them. I really do.

    3. Every doctor should be a Dr. Hartnick.

    4. Yeah he is awesome. He's my ENT at MEEI who saw me when I first got sick and had to go down there because the regional hospital near my house didn't know what to do. He's funny. He is friends with my pulmonologist (who actually lives a few streets away from me.) and my pulmonologist can sometimes be stupid so I was seeing Dr. Hartnick and he got a text from dr. Kinnane saying that he was going to a pulmonology conference. So dr.Hartnick texted him back saying "good luck. Meredith says hi. Don't do anything stupid...Again." It was really funny. Every dr should be like him or like dr.Kinnane or my physiatrist at Mass general, dr.Sarah Shea. Or like my old Gastroenterologist who saw me when I was little, dr walkins. He's retired now. He was really nice. P.S my hearing teacher at school,my doctors,my guidance couslor and my parents all don't believe what the test says. They know to that there is a problem.
