So I gave you good news yesterday and now here's the bad news to show that the past three weeks were not all fun and happy.
1. We have confirmation that my hearing will deteriorate until it's gone.
2. Dr Hartnick and Dr Robbins are scheduling an MRI with contrast and a sedated ABR to check my auditory nerve and see what the little spots in my brain are, weather just harmless things from my premeturity or something else.
3. My parents still aren't accepting and we got into a bit of an argument last night because my dad said "they teach these kids about this stuff too early, you guys are 13-15 you don't know what you are!" And then continued to go on to say that it's just a phase and that terms such as "gender neutral" are crazy and that they shouldn't teach about it.
4. My brother is back in the hospital. He came home around a month ago and was still not doing so great so he decided to go back, it's not uncommon though and he went on his own accord. It's still sad though.
5. At camp I became friends with one of the international students and I used to have a friend whose heritage was from that country and I would have nightmares about that former friend and still sometimes do and it's quite scary.
Well that's the news for today
Until next time,
M

ReplyDelete"We have confirmation that my hearing will deteriorate until it's gone." I am sorry, Friend!! That really sucks. :-(
"Dr Hartnick and Dr Robbins are scheduling an MRI with contrast and a sedated ABR to check my auditory nerve and see what the little spots in my brain are, weather just harmless things from my prematurity or something else." Eeek!! Keep us all posted on the doctors' test results!! I am praying for you, Friend!! ;)
"My parents still aren't accepting and we got into a bit of an argument last night because my dad said 'they teach these kids about this stuff too early, you guys are 13-15 you don't know what you are!' And then continued to go on to say that it's just a phase and that terms such as 'gender neutral' are crazy and that they shouldn't teach about it." Yikes!! What your Dad had the nerve to say--in front of you--makes me kind of mad!! Doesn't he know that the lack of support from parents and judgmental attitudes toward their kids who aren't straight can trigger Depression and help cause suicide in these teens?! {Do NOT get any ideas my Beautifully Unique, fangirl Friend!!} I am praying for your parents.... And you!! ;)
"My brother is back in the hospital. He came home around a month ago and was still not doing so great so he decided to go back, it's not uncommon though and he went on his own accord. It's still sad though." I imagine you miss your brother, but it is great that he went to the hospital on his own accord!! I am praying for him!! :-(

PS. Sorry, long comment!! I so cannot do Twitter!! Ha!! ;-D
It sucks a lot.
DeleteI will.
I don't know what made him say that, he doesn't really know that I'm Agender/Demi boy. I'm sure he does but he denies that I'm LGBTQIA+ (he's a bit of an idealist) Trust me I won't get any ideas.
I do. It's better then being forced to go. Thank you.
M....
DeleteI have read so many heartbreaking stories about teenagers who are from the LGBTQIA+ community--mostly transgender kids--who, lack support/acceptance from their parents, so Depression plagues them and they eventually commit suicide.... But you? You're supported, you're accepted, you're LOVED by me, by Adelaide, by Anna, by so many other Blogging Friends, by The Fellowship....!! I appreciate that you are not getting any ideas!! ;)
I am praying for your parents. ;)
"Stay hard, stay hungry, stay alive", Raelyn
I've read those too, it's heartbreaking. Almost all of the fellowship is queer as well so we support each other. Yeah :)
DeleteI endorse these words.
DeleteThank you for elaborating on this aspect of your identity M.
I admit that I got the Demi vibe first. Then the agender.
Your welcome.
DeleteIn what ways did you get Demi first and then Agender?
I tend to focus on relationships and how they are expressed.
DeleteAgender I got through some of your favourite characters in games and shows.
Please explain, I mostly understand what your saying it would just help if I had examples of how I express relationships and characters that you thought of.
DeleteGlad your bro knows himself well enough to see that hospital is the best place for him at this juncture.
ReplyDeleteWinston and you might like to look at PsychWardReviews which Kit Mead and friends did. One of my favourite parts is that they ask about identities which affect you like nonbinary or trans especially as they relate to your treatment in that place.
It's never too early to learn about identity and to talk openly about it. I wonder if they've told stories about how they found out what they were as kids or if someone found out about them.
And that point about depression - thank you Raelyn.

Nightmares ... especially about international students.
I didn't think the last three weeks would be all happy. I did think they would be full of growth and stretching and horizons.
They value this enough to argue on it?
Relieved about the confirmation because you now know the score/how to manage.
MRIs are very cool. Hope you get some natural sleep before the ABR.
Providence - a PsychWards review
Another PsychWards review this one in Helen Ross McNabb
In the nightmares, do you visit the country with the friend?
Same.
DeleteI will I'm glad they have that section!
That's what I think. I thought about saying to them "if you think it's too young to figure out what you are then when did you learn you were straight??"
Oh trust me Raelyn I won't get any ideas.
It. Is. Not. Fun. At. All
And full of growth they were.
Who knows?
Same here friend
They are cool. I'll try.
Thanks for the links :)
No it's more the former friend just hurting me, taunting me, and beating me up. I actually woke up from one a few minutes ago which is why I'm up so early (it's around 7AM here)
A shaking paining M.
DeleteProbably it was not a thing they "learnt" - it was a thing they just "knew" as soon as they were capable of knowing like 2 or 3 or something.
Waking up from a nightmare ...
That was me in the small hours of the morning for the past couple of days.
DeleteThat's what I thought, it's just like being LGBTQ+ you don't choose it your just, queer.
Yeah it's pretty scary.
Hugs. Just hugs. Knowing your hearing will deteriorate until it is gone must be the most awful thing to find out. I know I was crushed when I found out my hearing loss was not able to be fixed and mine isn't supposed to get worse. Email if you need me, M.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathryn. It was indeed. When did you find out about yours? I probably will.
DeleteI was diagnosed at age 5 but they didn't realize it wasn't fixable until I was 15. So it's been almost 3 years.
DeleteThat's very sad. I was diagnosed at 12 but they said that it could have gone on for years before it was diagnosed. Will you have your FM in college?
DeleteIt's a different one but yes
DeleteWell that's at least good.
DeleteSorry about everything, what kind of dreams are you having about your friend?
ReplyDelete-Dezi
It's okay.
DeleteI've been having dreams about that certain former friend of mine verbally hurting me (for example using their words from when we became not friends anymore) physically beating me and Psychologically torturing me. So I wake up with a start, panting or screaming.
How do they know your hearing will deteriorate until it's gone?
ReplyDeleteThey did a series of tests, as well as did a genetics test and came to the conclusion that I have progressive hearing loss.
DeleteConnexion 26? Genes interest me so much
DeleteGlad they believe you now!
DeleteI'd not have thought of Connexion 26.
DeleteWas wondering if you knew of the website and support group Unique? That is a good place for the learning of genes and mutations.
Good to see all the Deaf Links on your following list.
And there was a very recent study on Connexion 26.
Yes it is Connexion 26 Lissa. Same genes are cool. Speaking of genes my friend and I both have the same genetic disorder and he and his friend have the same different genetic disorder! Jack and I both have PCDH19 epilepsy and Jack and Connor both have Kabuki Syndrome!
DeleteO...kay? You can't know who you are if you don't have the chance to figure it out. Discouraging trial and error is among the worst of evils.
ReplyDeleteYeah. That's true.
