I haven't yet written about Valan and Sammies meeting or how Sam's past affects her and so here's how she ended up in Vivic City and happened to run into a certain elf.
The Eyrie - Vale of Arryn (GoT reference) 3E 423
I'm doing it. I'll finally figure out how to do it. I will get away. From my parents, from the guards, from my cousins...especially my cousins. Lilly and Lissa came to live with mum, dad and me when I was 8, they clearly thought that I was inferior to them, as I was a scrawny little kid with short hair and usually ripped or stained clothing. And certainly wasn't "ladylike". They on the other hand had long wavy hair that was always proper and done nicely, and wore dresses and skirts all the time, always were on time for 4:00 tea with my parents or when my aunt came. And were obviously favored by my other relatives. As we got older their treatment of me just kept getting worse. "Get this Samantha. Fetch me that Samantha. You'll never go anywhere in life, your parents hate you, you have no friends. Just go die already. Why don't you wear dresses you'll never get married no one likes you." And then things started getting physical. Pushed down the stairs, shoved into walls, kicked, slapped, punched, tripped, and almost anything else you can think of. And guess what, no one gives a shit. Not even my parents, not the guards either. I'm invisible. That's why I'm running away. I walk to my room in the high tower, going up up up the long dark spiraled staircase, it's not a nice one though, rough stone that hurts your feet if you don't wear shoes or socks, that gets narrow and dark and uneven no matter if there's torches lining the walls in a few places. I open the creaky old wooden door to my bed room. I was moved here after the twins came, and they got the nice rooms downstairs. I'm stuck with an old servers quarters. I sit on my bed, it looked as if it had been decent once, a four posted bed with a canopy and carvings, but over time they'd worn away and the fabric faded, my bedspread is red velvet with little golden designs on it, but it too has become rough and faded. I walk over to the window, it has no glass, and is covered by two curtains when they aren't pulled back and held by two pieces of rope I had found. It's carved out of stone and overlooks the Vale. I can see the steep hills and passes of it, and far beyond it the Ashlands. Sometimes at night we would get the remains of a storm from there, and ash would batter the castle and stone. But let's get back to the task at hand. I open my dresser, careful to avoid splinters and take out some of my cloths. "Let's see, 3 shirts and 3 pants maybe? I can't bring much." I murmur to myself quietly and put them on the bed. Then I open my closet and get a grey cloak, it's simple, but warm. And then I open a small secret compartment under a floorboard and take out a wooden box. It's an old tea chest I found in a drawer in the kitchen and stole it away to my room. I open it and take out a pendant. It's a chain of silver, with a bird charm hanging from it, and a single Sapphire gem inlaid in it. I put it in a pouch along with some gold and then pack the things in an old bag. Then I creep down to the kitchen and take some of the dried meats and bread among a few other things that won't go bad. I wrap them up and take them upstairs, but as I walk through the hall a guard stops me "hey, you. Lady Samantha, whatcha got there?" I stop in my tracks and turn around hiding the package behind my back "umm nothing just doing laundry don't mind me, well I best be going goodbye!" And walk backwards until I get behind the corner and then run up the stairs. I get back to my room and slam the door. Then pack the food and wait. I look at my map and go over my plan. Now, what is my plan you're most likely asking? Well I'm to wait until nightfall where everyone's alseep and then I can't just go out the front door! But I have an alternate way. The Eyrie has a contraption called The MoonDoor, it's a large platform in the floor that opens to a large drop to the plains below. Now your thinking "that'll kill you!" But not as such. You see, when I was little I would scout around the countryside and what I found was a little staircase that leads from the underside of the moon door down to the ground. And I'm good a climbing and I'm able to get to the staircase carved into the rock. And then from there who knows.
12:30 The Eyrie- Main hall.
I snuck down to the main open hall, no ones here, not even the guards. I press the button and the moon door opens silently. Wrapped in shadows clutching my bag I climb to the staircase, and start my way down. I stay close to the rock, it's a long drop. After what seems like hours I make it to the bottom and look up. "Bastards." I laugh to myself. Then I see lights, torches. Someone found it, that it was left open, oh no. No no no no no. And run off into the night.
I get to the border of the Ashlands and look at my map "closest city, Vivec." And head west. After around two days I stumble into a traveling merchant and his silt strider "Ai mellon!" He waves. "Ai, Mi van me?" I ask curiously as I have no idea where I am. "Me van in Ashlands." Hahaha very funny. "Do you speak English?" I shout up to him "yes. Of corse I do. Have to when your a merchant, else can't do business!" He replies "where are you going? Will you being going to Vivec soon?" I reply back. He thinks for a moment and checks a paper "why yes I will, do you need a ride, you look weary traveler. I'd be happy to give you a ride." He says matter of factly. I smile "thank you kindly. I've been walking for days." And walk up the hill and board the silt strider, to Vivec city we go.

I walk along the streets clutching my computer and books. I'm supposed to go fix the lights at a shop today. Nothing interesting. Or so I though. "Good morning Rowan." I say as I step in the door "good morning Sammie. The problem is in the back room, the damn light won't turn on, I think it's a problem with the main power system or something." I nod and head into the back. After a while of working on it the door opens again. A young man around my age walks in, he's a dark elf too, but looks a bit different. Has Crimson colored hair, and looks to be at least significantly visually impaired. "Morning Rowan. Have any books on Indriol nerevar?" He asks. "Hello Valan. I might, need it for Nerevarine stuff?" Rowan says and steps into the back room. I step out from my hiding spot "your the Nerevarine?" I ask in mild awe. He shrugs "weird right? I couldn't believe it myself. What's your name?" I laugh "my name? Oh, Sammie Arryn at your service." I say with a slight bow. He smiles "Valan Velothi at yours." And bows slightly as well. Rowan comes back with a pile of books "here you go." He says placing them in the counter, Valan flips through them and then looks at Rowan "how much are these?" He asks pointing to the pile. Rowan thinks for a minute "for you, 15 septims. I know you don't have much as you just got here." Valan takes out the gold and hands it to him "thank you." He turns to leave and I stop him "where are you going?" I ask "honestly I have no idea. Adventuring I guess, wanna come?" He replys. I look between Rowan and Valan, then Rowan says "go ahead, kid. You made a friend I'd rather have you spend time with them than stuck here working with me." I nod smiling madly and rush into the back room and grab my bag and laptop. Then run back and stand in the doorway "let's go." And the two of us walk out, I say goodbye to Rowan as we leave. As we walk down the street and off into the Ashlands my new friend tells me about himself and how he was originally born here but after his dad died he and his mom had to move, and then for a reason still unknown to him he got arrested and shipped off here. And he has a weird genetic modification so that's why his hairs red and his eyes don't work.

I walk through the halls and up to the second floor. We're to meet Master Neloth and Talvas at 1:00 and its 11:00 now. I push open the door to Valans room and go and kneel next to the side of his bed. "Valan. Valan. Valan. Valan. Valan!" I say poking him each time. He opens his eyes sleepily "what?" He asks "wake up. It's 11:00 we need to be at Tel Naga by 1:00." He bolts upright "it's 11:00?! I thought it was like 9:00! Okay now get out of my room I'll meet you downstairs." I grin and walk out the door "see ya later!"
You now know the meeting and friendship of the Runaway and the Exile.
This was what I was doing all week not posting. And working on some concept art and was at photography camp.
Until next time,
M
Wow! This is very conceptual.
ReplyDeleteYou go to so many different camps, Max!
Re-reading the main hall Eyrie part..
Feels like they're doing archaeological work.
Thanks!
DeleteIt was actually only two but feels like a lot!
I like that part, and The Ashlands, a place you do not want to be wandering at night...or at all if you can help it!
How so? Funny story about that actually, when I was in kindergarten my teacher asked "what do you want to be when you grow up?" And expected a simple answer, but no I was obsessed with Archeology, Ancient Egypt and The Chronicles of Narnia at the time so I answered very matter of factory "I want to be an Egyptologist!" And the teacher was incredibly confused. Just a little funny thing.

Yep! I was also busy watching some of the olympics and sleeping. I did, also someone showed up from New York early...a certain person by the name of SARAH!!! Needless to say she surprised me. And her grandparents live on the street between Jack and Connor! Only the Kramer siblings are still in the UK but she remembered Jonsey from EXPLO and met his giant (60 kilo) adorable St. Bernard service dog Yarrow! He's so big Jonsey can use him as a pony, and so can Jack. One time Conjor brought him to school (because he's a service dog) and Jack and Connor rode him into the office very nonchalantly and were like "hello!" To the office staff and then the Principal opened his door and they were right in front of him and Mr. McCarthy is just leaning against the wall drinking his coffee like nothing's wrong. It was Hilarious.

Delete"I was also busy watching some of the Olympics...." Me too!! Well.... I have been watching a little bit of the Olympics, anyway!! My favorite sports, my favorite events, my favorite athletes are always on too damn late!! I like swimming, gymnastics, synchronized diving.... What are some of your favorite sports and events in the Summer Olympics? ;-D
"Someone showed up from New York early...a certain person by the name of SARAH!!! Needless to say she surprised me." Aw.... I am so glad that you got to see Sarah!! What a pleasant surprise!! Tell Sarah "hi" from me, alright? ;)
A little 2016 Rio Summer Olympics joke.... Everybody keeps saying over and over and over how Michael Phelps is "old". Uh, he's thirty-one? That is only a year younger than me!! {I am thirty-two!!} How do you think everybody calling Michael Phelps "old" makes me feel, huh?! Ha!! ;-D

I like the gymnastics the best, it's amazing what they can do!
DeleteYeah me too :) I did, she says "HI RAELYN!!!!"
Yeah he's not old, and neither are you my wonderful friend!

Delete"Yeah he's not old, and neither are you my wonderful friend!" Ah, thanks!! I was just joking, just making fun of myself!! Athletes--especially gold medal-winning Olympians--tend to age faster than the average person, anyway!! To Michael Phelps, thirty-one would be like thirty-one in dog years!! Ha!! ;-D
"Stay hard, stay hungry, stay alive", Raelyn
Your welcome :)
DeleteTrue! Haha
