A/N: Any thoughts as to what could be casting the spooky shadows?
Prompt: Enchanted garden where moon casts shadow of object or ghost invisible to the human eye
Sometimes life after death can be a real annoyance, but it does have its perks. A heightened awareness of the supernatural is one of them I find particularly useful. “There’s something else out here…” I say in a singsong tone to Anna as we investigate a ruin, though she seems already aware of it herself by the way she holds up a hand signaling me to be quiet. Farkas continues poking around at the other end of the circular ruin; it isn’t exactly a crypt, but I don’t know what else to call it. There is a large dug out section in the middle with a now overgrown garden and cloisters of sorts and slanted walls around it that form an open dome-like shape. I don’t even know what the duo are actually doing here in all honesty, Issy and I just happened to run into them in Falkreath and I decided to tag along on their late night excursion as Issy is busy discussing some matter with the Jarl. For someone with a greatsword strapped to their back and heavy armor Farkas is capable of moving surprisingly quietly and startles even me when I look around and find a pair of metallic silver eyes only a few feet away from me, when previously he had been across the garden. Being the kind-hearted werewolf he is however he apologizes briefly before moving on to go discuss whatever he’d found with Anna. As they stand talking I continue to sense an uneasy presence and it has me ever so slightly on edge, as a result I keep my blade close at hand. It’s strangely dark tonight as well, though when the moons come out briefly and the moonlight falls onto the garden I notice something the other two don’t as they continue to discuss their own findings. There is a shadow of what seems to be some kind of box being cast…but no visible object is casting it. “You guys also see the weird shadow, right?” I ask, pointing to it in the center of the garden and drawing their attention. “What’s casting the shadow then?” Anna ponders and squints in an attempt to get a better look without approaching it any closer. Eventually after standing about awkwardly for a few minutes we decide to all approach the strange shadow at the same time, and find it rather unremarkable aside from its lack of a visible object. Looking around the area nearby we find nothing that could be casting the shadow and eventually give up. By now the hour has grown quite late, to the point it will be dawn soon, and thus we decide to return to the sleepy town of Falkreath and all its morbid but accurately named places. As we leave the site I look back at the garden once more to find the shadow has disappeared entirely, perhaps just because the moons are covered by clouds, though I still think something is off. On the walk back to the town I find out the reason why Anna and Farkas were poking around, apparently a local got into some trouble who happens to be a werewolf and they were tasked with tracking him down after he escaped prison. “You know what they say…I’ll meet by moonlight.” Anna offers as a brief explanation to why they thought they might stumble upon the fugitive lycanthrope at that crypt. Falkreath is a strange place indeed, seemingly enchanted gardens and werewolf attacks aside, this place feels wrong.
