I met with my hearing teacher today and we talked about options that we can do for now because I'm missing a lot of information and my ABR isn't until the 29th so we had to do something. Our plan is for me to use something called I-Sense receivers which are sort of like an FM but without hearing aids. After my ABR we decide on hearing aids and a personal FM which I really want because they would help me outside of school as well. Ms Boyle wants me to get them to because she knows that they will help me. I also will have a note taker in class. We have to get the audiologist from last times name and a copy of the audiogram which I think my mom emailed to ms Boyle already a few minuets ago. When ms Boyle gets them she will talk to the educational audiologist and AT and they will get me my things hopefully by next week. I could even get them as early as Thursday! Because ms Boyle is meeting with all the 8th grade teachers to talk about AT with them in more detail. I'm excited! But still I really hope I get hearing aids because my mom when I was talking to her she was like "oh I don't think you'll need those. Let's cross that bridge when we get there." And I was just looking at her like "are you crazy I can hardly hear a conversation most of the time even outside of school! And outside of school I won't have the I sense most likely and ms Boyle actually hopes I get them because they will help me!" So in conclusion I'm happy and nervous at the same time

DeleteShe should indead. I hope she has them. I have to see yet another new audiologist after my ABR who works specifically with kids with seneonuril hearing loss. Now that I think of it Mulan is really similar to E'owyn.
DeleteI am glad you have a temporary solution but it angers me that you still do not have the hearing aids you need and your very own mother is part of the obstacale. If this isnt rude, what does your mom have against hearing aids?
ReplyDeleteI am angry and annoyed about it too. I really do need them if I want to be able to live my life with out so much strain,stress and tiredness. I think that she thinks they will be very expensive and she doesn't understand that even mild losses or mild-moderate losses affect the person a lot. I am currently in the range of mild-moderate or moderately severe. I also think she is in denial a bit and doesn't want to accept that she will have a kid who has now more than one physical (soon visible) disabilities. she doesn't understand a lot about hearing loss/fm sets/hearing aids and how they are really necessary. My dad understand though because he has OCD and as a kid never got help so if hearing aids/fm will help me (which they will) he is fine with me getting them. I narrowed down my hearing aid choices with ms.boyle the other day to because we looked on the oticon and phonak websites and looked the at BTE types I would most likely get and they are either Oticon-Sensi's,Oticon-safari's or another type from phonak that I forget what there called. I will either get purple,red,green or light blue.

DeleteP.S I might be getting my I-Sense's tomorrow! Either tomorrow or early next week. They are one of three colors red and a silver background ,green and a silver background or all silver they look sort of like hearing aids because they go behind you ears but they are not hearing aids they are an fm system. If you want to know more about them you can look them up there from Phonak.
