"Ohh nothing"... (Juliette)

Here's another story just because only this time it's Xavier and Juliette!!!!

Now how did Xavier and I become friends? Well it all started way way back in the third era on our first day of college (that we go to when we are not out adventuring) The university of Daggerfall. I was/are majoring in Lit and Xavier was/is majoring in History. We had the same writing class. Ahh good times. Anyway here goes,

"What's that?" An orange haired new classmate of mine asks, it's about me sketchbook. I think of a reply but I can't get the words out. I manage to say " ohh this thing, nothing." I say quickly hiding the book. "Well if it's a thing it must be something. Because nothing can't be something, nothing is just...nothing!" At the boy saying that I feel relived to hear the words. I smile and ask him "from what you said just now, do you watch/read Game of Thrones??" He thinks for a second then looks at me with a grin "Do I of corse I do!!" We then continue to talk for a while. Then the professor walks in and Xavier, that's the boys name gets his binder and books and comes and sits next to me. We are now friends. "I hope you don't mind if I sit here, I have no other friends in this class." He says. I laugh and say "if it makes you feel any better I have 2-3 friends period!"

Ahh the first day of college. I remember it clearly. It was the day Xavier and I became friends and we've been best friends ever since.

THE END

Juliette Kurfeld.

I wrote this as if Juliette were writing a paper, book, letter or something else. I hope you liked it!

Until next time,
Meredith

Juliette!! Aw, that is a great name!! So beautiful!! As a fictional story writer myself, I named a character Juliette once.... I even gave it the same exact spelling, too!! ;)
I enjoyed your story of friendship!! Keep writing, Friend!! ;-D

    1. Thank you!! She is one of the first characters I ever thought of, Xavier was the first because he's the oldest!

  2. "The third era on our first day of college (that we go to when we are not adventuring" ...
    great scene setting from Juliette.

It was a few years ago that they went to college, yes?

Writing - was that a breadth or depth requirement? A developmental?

    "It's about me sketchbook".

Like Xavier's answer here: "Well if it's a thing, it must be something. Because nothing can't be something, nothing is just nothing!"

"Do I? Of course I do!"

Ah, this friendship is fast, and the narrative feels slow.

"If it makes you feel any better, I have 2-3 friends period!"

[Do we meet any of them in this universe/paracosm?]

    First-day friends.

If you make a friend for a day ... you are rich.

If you make a friend for life ... you are rich and happy.

[Thinking of the fish and teaching saying].

"Letter" would probably work. Or she might be making a speech.

    And not like a roleplay/dialogue?

What sort of paper does Juliette like to write on? Parchment? Digital?

Does the professor of Daggerfall have a name?

    Ah - humanities subset!

Seems like X and J share a reference pool.

    @Raelyn:

have named a few characters Juliet[te] and Julie and Julia and also Julienne [like what is done to finely slice vegetables 🍆🌶🍠🍴].

[I tend to retire names when they become real in my life].

Xavier - probably not so much. Too many antecedents and precedents.

I like the name Julianne!! It is spelled differently.... But probably pronounced the same? ;)

PS. You write fictional stories, too, Friend?! ;-D

    2. They are still in college due to the nature of their schedule and immortality.

It was a class in which they analyze old texts and write different stories/educational papers.

They do share references which is part of the reason their best friends
I have not thought of a name yet I'll work on it.

They do share references that's part of the reason their best friends

    3. Immortality.

Many of my own computer/video game characters are deeply mortal. Though some Sims have lived past their allotted 90 days; more have died as babies, toddlers, children or younger adults.

Ah - like archaeology in the Elder Scrolls universe? Or palaeography?

Yes - Xavier and Juliette share references because they are best friends. Their relationship is highly valued and they're enjoying spending time together.

    4. @Raelyn:

As for how Julianne is pronounced.

Some people say it with a ZH or a Y. So the first syllable is effectively swallowed up. Or an H like in Spanish.

Or you can put it Julie-Anne with the two names.

Every writing has and is an element of fiction, Raelyn.

    6. It would be more Archeology because they are analyzing ancient manuscripts.

What types of video games do you play??!

  3. I play:

    puzzle games
    strategy games [chess]
educational games [especially in mathematics and literature]
    art games
    design games
    hidden object games
life simulations [from Alter Ego to Little Computer People to Mind Mirror to Virtual Families/Virtual House]
    quizzes [Sploofus.com and Youplay.com]
    typing games
    word games
    games in browsers [especially MouseBreaker]
food games [like the Papa Louie series and Cooking Royale/Restaurant Royale/Bilbo's Restaurant. Bilbo is a squirrel.
Everything on the Internet Archive in MS-DOS and Windows.
    roguelike games

Wrote about video and online games in "Towards Europa" yesterday.

And CampNaNoWriMo is sort of a game/challenge.

    1. That's cool!

I play mostly Fantasy/RPG games both table top like dungeons and dragons and on a computer/tv like Skyrim or minecraft or Dragon Age which came in the mail today (my old copy of DA: origins got scratched when my brother dropped it so we ordered a replacement copy) I'm soooo excited and can't wait to get home!!!

    2. Have a great time Meredith and brother with your new copy DRAGON AGE: ORIGINS.

Scratching is part of the business, and has been ever since there was optical/recordable media.

[Why it is not put on a USB stick/key I will never understand! Probably on the grounds of copyright protection and backward compatibility].

Table top games are indeed lots of fun.

Knew a few Skyrimmers in my time.

Spyro the Dragon was also very popular, as was Banjo and Kazoo ... there will be a Crash Bandicoot game on the cards.

[Last December/January I was very excited about that, at least for the nostalgia and introducing a new generation].

    3. Thank you, I'm really happy with it! I saved most of my stuff onto a hard drive so Alairian is still in business! It's a great game (Skyrim) I highly recommend it if your into that kind of game.

    1. Is what you said "at school. Juliette listen." ??

      Delete
    2. Or the listening is in another tense?

Like in the past continuous or the past perfect?

And then you deal with the future because Juliette and Xavier are in the future.

And then we get into higher education and how we talk about that.

[Might have to pick up a few Elder Scrolls en francais].

[Lots of games are localised for their markets. I will admit to surfing Facebook in Magyar for the UX and UI - and for the mindset shift].

    3. I highly recommend the series, you can get it on steam or at GameStop or other places and pick the language, they don't have many of the older games but you can get them on the elder scrolls wiki under Daggerfall there is a link on the page.

    4. It's supposed to be "At school, Juliette listens", but conjugations in French and English are different. That makes Google Translate butcher French.

    5. Ok that makes more sense. I don't speak French myself so I use google translate. That is true she does listen at school.
