A continuation of If they Fade where Ali and Co. Are in Kirkwall visiting Garret Hawke and his friends. Ali goes and finds Fenris, Hawkes broody boyfriend and they have a chat.
Setting : Hawke mansion, Kirkwall - the free marches 6:00 AM
I hear noises from downstairs, almost as if the door opened and closed. Why would anyone be up this early? The markets not open yet so it could not be Betheny and the blacksmith is not open either so Carver wouldn't be going anywhere, But maybe it's not the younger Hawke twins, Garret's younger brother and sister who he fled lothering with. I roll over and try to go back to sleep. Hawkes snoring slightly and I punch him in the arm to make him stop, "why'd ya do tha Fenris?" He asks sleepily "you were snoring. I was making you stop." I reply, he shrugs. I must have slipped into unconsciousness for at least some time because I'm woken with a start as the bedroom door crashes open "Wake up you two come on!!" It's Alarian, so that's what that noise was. I look at them as I sit up, still a bit sore from- oh nevermind. They seem worried about something, their usually very vibrant and full of life, now they just seem tense. Ali stands still for a few moments, then moved their arms saying "come on. Get up. Also Fenris, I need to talk to you. That's why I'm here." I nod and Alarian leaves the room and walks down the hall, green cloak trailing behind them, judging from the scream that happens a minute or two later I can guess that they woke up Bethany. After getting dressed I walk downstairs to find them no where to be seen, I check each room and find nothing until I get to the library. I open the mahogany door to find Ali standing on a stepstool with a fire spell and burning something "what are you doing??" I ask, as it would be quite strange to find them burning the book itself, as this kid is obsessed with reading, they actually lent Hawke some of their own favorite books when he was teaching me how to read and write. Alarian reaches up to get another book, leafs through it and takes out a piece of paper burning it and dropping the ashes in a bucket replying "doing you a favor, I'm taking out all the manifestos that Anders stuffed in here and burning them so you can read in peace." I blink "uh, thanks?" They step down to the ground "no problem my friend." And smiles at me. "What did you want to talk to me about?" I ask. "Oh, yes that thing! Well one evening in camp I was standing around and I got these weird vision things and I wanted to talk to you about them." We sit in front of the fireplace as they tell the experience of what happened, and ask if what happened to me was similar. I think for a moment, "well, they are somewhat similar. Both of our lives flashed before us, and then focused on a particularly horrific event. I'm not sure if their linked, though it's entirely possible. And tell me about what happened with Shartan and Andastrate, if you please." Ali takes a deep breath and says "well, I don't really know what happened, it was almost like reliving a memory, which is very very strange because that happened hundreds of years ago!" I reply "I think I may know why you experienced it though, you are a messenger or earthly incarnation of our God, now over the corse of history God has taken many forms. Sharan is one of them, what I'm trying to say is a very long time before you were the person you are today, maybe you were them. Now I'm not a priest and I don't recommend going to the chantry about this as they will surely dismiss it as being a heathen, just like that priestess at Ostagar. But maybe bring it up with the people at Temple? They will know more then me, or talk to your friend, Mr. Stratford, he might know. And if you want another elves opinion who isn't a religious figure talk to Merrill, she's from a Dalish clan and they tend to know at least a bit of religious and historical culture of our people. Though it may differ as you and I are Tevine and Merrill is Dalish. Who knows?" Ali nods and thanks me, the two of us then get up and leave the room to go find our friends, most likely playing wicked grace at the tavern in lowtown, the hanged man. Isabelas probably telling ridiculous stories of what happened on her pirating adventures, Varrics writing stuff for his book, Anders is ranting per usual, Sten and Carver and Alistair are probably all talking about warrior stuff, Zevran's flirting, Leliana, Wynne, Morrigan and Merrill are probably all talking about magic and the chantry and what to do, and someone will most likely lose their pants by the end of the game, it wouldn't be the first time it's happened, and it's a mix of amusing and embarrassment as you have to wait until everyone's done drinking and gone home for the night, unless your Varric or Isabela because they both rent rooms there. I think to myself as the two of us walk down the streets of Kirkwall "wow do we have crazy friends of what? And how did I become friends with all of these idiots?" But I love them anyway, it's better to have a group of crazy friends who love you for who you are and not care what the world thinks of you then to have no friends or friends that aren't nice to you and to be universally hated. I hope I helped Ali with their memory issues, I have a hard time figuring out my own a lot of the time, and that's why if your ever in the Hawke household you may hear screaming in the middle of the night, either Carver jump scared his sister or the opposite or someone's having nightmares. No rest for the weary I guess.
I had an idea and it got a lot longer then expected...oops.
My bad *shrugs*
Until next time,
M
Merrill is a great character.
ReplyDeleteAnd I like getting a sense of what the Dorks are all doing separately and together.
"Someone will most likely lose their pants by the end of the game".
"But I love them anyway, it's better to have a group of crazy friends who love you for who you are and not care what the world thinks of you then to have no friends or friends that aren't nice to you and to be universally hated."
No rest for the weary indeed! And I like the way F helped Ali with their memory issues and their own.
Jumpscaring is a thing in this world?
So it was very quiet early in the morning.
Yeah I love that little blood Mage who has an obsession with puppets :) no really she does and it's adorable, also Varric gave her a ball of twine when she moved to Kirkwall so she wouldn't get lost!
DeleteYeah I just remembered that I forgot Shale! And possibly someone else!
It happened to Cullen in Dragon Age inquisition, and then the next morning Sera works up under the table hungover and was like "did I win?"
Fenris had no friends before he met The Kirkwall Gang, he grew up a slave in Tevinter. It's very sad.
No rest for anyone! Especially the Hawke household, Fenris included. As you can probably tell via this and my tumblr I am in FenHawke hell! But it's not too bad because I have tumblr. Yeah, go Fenris!! He was quite confused when he walked into the library to see a bunch of ashes because as he said "This kids obsessed with reading." They always have at least one book with them at all times. Except sleeping and things like that. I think talking about their pasts helped both of them in at least a little way.
Kind of, DarkSpawn popping up from the ground, Templars knocking down your door, The sky ripping open, Demons possessing you in The Fade (the realm of dreams) so yes?
Kind of. It's never totally silent in that house, someone's always making noise. It could be either of the twins, Garret, Fenris or the servant person.
And that noise can be highly reassuring for some people, especially those who grew up in chaos.
DeleteWhat is happening to Shale right now?
I can see the FenHawke hell everywhere.
And this is a group with books everywhere - I appreciate that.
Yes, the slave part is very sad.
A ball of twine and puppets. These little things make characters.
It can be, Ali likes having noise around when their alone especially.
DeleteShale and Oghren are probably hanging out with the rest of the dorks. Oghren is most likely drunk per usual and Shale is ranting about pigeons, their a stone golom who was deactivated for years and has a not very good relationship with birds.
It's obvious but I ship them.
How so?
Yeah it is, if you look at his page on the wiki it tells more about him.
That's actual Canon stuff though and I find it hilarious. Merrill has two little puppets of Fenris and Garret and she's playing with them and then here's what she acts out
Hawke : "I love you Fenris!"
Fen "I love you too."
Hawke "marry me Fenris."
Fen : "No."
Hawke "why not?!"
Fen : "I'm in love with another."
And then Isabela was watching the whole thing along with Varric and at the ending Fenris just pops out around the door and is like (excuse my language) "bullshit no I'm not!"
Messengers and earthly incarnations... this gets better and better!
ReplyDeleteYep, I was talking to Leliana and she told me about Shartan who worked with Andastrate and freed the slaves. And based on "I Am..." We know Alarian is not just a simple 17 year old and I was looking for an elf that could work for something such as an earlier incarnation and I decided to use Shartan!
DeleteAlso we have more of TES story time with M with Olivia today telling how they may be the most adorable and cute and not completely messed up one of the group but they still are a bit odd and not completely adorable and cute and innocent...meaning yes they've killed people among other things, but I won't spoil it for you.
Shartan does work as an incarnation.
DeleteLeliana has some great ideas.
I have read Olivia's story by now.
Yep. I'm actually working on another sad(ish) story of how Ali and Marien got into that fight and Ali got stabbed and they are then sent back to earth because their work is not finished yet and most likely never will be.
DeleteShe does
I know :)
Is that the one I just read ... ?
DeleteYes it is.
