So I met with ms Boyle today and we were talking and then I found out that apparently the FM that was recommended hasn't been manufactured in over a decade!!! Back to the drawing board I guess. We now have to wait for either ms Boyle to talk to the audiologists and dr. Hartnick and come up with a plan or wait for the results of my ABR/EABR. I'm getting tired of all this waiting but at least they want to give me a personal FM.
Until next time,
Meredith
What!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's insane!!!!!!!! Uh can't the audiologist recommend any other personal FM, a model that is actually being produced? I can't believe your audiologist recommended something that isn't even made anymore. You must be upset.
ReplyDeleteThe they probably will have to look around and see if there are ear level FM's that provide amplification as well as do what a typical FM does. I don't think that the audiologist knew that it wasn't being made anymore. I hope we can find something before next Tuesday which is when my next EAR/EABR and next set of hearing tests are. I am upset about it.
Deletei looked it up and the Roger Focus from Phonak is an personal FM for people without hearing aids.
DeleteI had read something about that I'll mention it to my parents/Audiology team. Because we need something that's small enough that I can wear/carry around but provides amplification as well before we decide on hearing aids. Thank you for telling me about it though!
DeleteWhy would they give you such an archaic piece of equipment in the absence of everything newer having not worked for you? Their decision is blatantly irrational because that decision poses unnecessary inconvenience for both you and the FM manufacturer.
ReplyDeleteIt is inconvenient and Ms Boyle is going to talk with the audiologist and discus options and then will get back to me or we see what happens next Tuesday. But I think I have to wait until Tuesday. I'm getting sick of waiting so long for things.
DeleteAsk if there is a way to expedite the process.
DeleteOk I will make sure I ask.
