Flash Fiction February Day 26 Magic (Valan)

 Day 26 Magic:

While a good amount of people are wary of it, magic does have its advantages, especially if you can control it well. Some people are better at it than others of course, which I suppose contributes to some of the distrust of it by some people, but I digress. I for one had been exposed to it from a very young age, that is one perk of House Telvanni I suppose. However I don’t think I have ever met a more eccentric magic user than the one I sit in front of, a four thousand year old mage by the name of Divayth Fyr, one of the most respected mages of House Telvanni…though I’m not exactly sure why. While he is very old and obviously extremely powerful he is…strange, for lack of better words. According to Master Neloth, another eccentric old wizard and personal friend of Fyr, he refuses to be on the Telvanni council and prefers to remain in his tower of Tel Fyr and work on his research. The two of us sit at a small table in the master wizards study discussing a variety of topics including how I ended up being deported back to Morrowind, the topics of his research which include Corpus and daedric princes, the four girls downstairs as well as Ayron who lives in the northern part of the country, and House Telvanni and its practices. I notice the various daedric artifacts scattered around and displayed on the walls, including a set of full daedric armor on a stand, there are additionally a number of spell books on shelves and piled on the desk, I wonder what kind of secrets they contain. After a bit more discussion I give Fyr the letter that I was supposed to deliver from Ayrons representative in Sadrith Mora, a coded message for Fyr from the other wizard about who knows what. The old man reads it, makes a noise, writes a reply, and hands it back to me, telling me to deliver it back to Ayrons representative on the council. Sending me on my way with a few potions, some gold, and a bit of advice on magic Fyr bids me farewell for the time being. Now if only he could teleport me back to Sadrith Mora, as Tel Fyr is more or less in the middle of nowhere…I guess there are some things even magic can’t help, I think to myself as I begin the journey back to the council. At least the mages guild has guild guides…
